This listing features an ORIGINAL
& AUTHENTIC 1968 FIRST PRINTING concert poster which was commissioned by Jim Salzer to promote a concert headlined by The Big Brother Holding Co. with lead singer Janis Joplin and Electric Flag (with Buddy Miles and Mike Bloomfield). Sweetwater was also on the star studded bill!
The show took place on February 3rd, 1968 at the Earl Warren Showgrounds in Santa Barbara, California. The beautiful artwork was done by artist Frank Bettencourt.  Although Big Brother and the Holding Company are billed as the headliner, the central image of the poster is of the opener, Electric Flag.

Rest assured, this is NOT the common reprint being sold elsewhere on eBay! This is the ORIGINAL poster which is extremely scarce! The poster measures approximately 16 5/8" x 21 1/2" in size. This concert poster is historically significant due to the fact it was one of Janis Joplin's first shows with Big Brother & The Holding Co, the band that made her a household name!

Printed in 1968, this poster is over 50 years old! Despite its age, the example offered here is in
NEAR MINT
PLUS
condition! In fact, it's easily the nicest 1st printing of this poster that we've seen! Janis Joplin memorabilia is always in high demand! So this poster has HUGE UPSIDE INVESTMENT POTENTIAL!
1st printing vs 2nd printing
The first printing, in addition to being on a more porous vellum stock (reprints are on a smoother index), has a pair of minor stripping flaws, where
the "l" of "Earl" and "W" of "Warren" are overprinted slightly into the blue field
at the bottom of the poster. In addition, the "B" in "Big" is in a slightly different location seen splitting the red and white fields. These slight differences can be seen in the last two pics where we've provided a side-by-side comparison.
Again, this is NOT a reproduction or bootlegged poster of any kind! This early Janis Joplin concert poster is a piece of music history and would make a great addition to any serious collection! Considering the condition, rarity and historical significance, we don't expect this one to last very long!
